Petstock Group is looking for an experienced Safety Assurance and Systems Lead to play a critical role in strengthening our safety, wellbeing and risk management frameworks across the business.
You will play a key role in providing independent assurance over our WHS systems, partnering closely with operational leaders, technology, finance, and our majority shareholder, Woolworths Group. You’ll help ensure our safety controls are effective, embedded and continuously improving, while also supporting the broader Group Risk framework.
You’ll work across all sites and functions, coordinating audits, supporting compliance, uplifting capability, and providing clear, high‑quality assurance insights to senior leaders, the Risk & Audit Committee and the Board.
How you’ll make an impact
- Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety & Wellbeing assurance framework
- Provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of WHS systems, controls and critical risk practices
- Coordinate and deliver internal and external safety audits, including regulator and certification audits
- Conduct first‑line assurance activities and support the close‑out of non‑conformities
- Support second‑ and third‑line assurance activities across sites and transport operations
- Prepare clear, high‑quality assurance reports for senior leadership, Risk & Audit Committee and Board
- Track management actions arising from assurance reviews and monitor completion
- Support the development and delivery of the Group Risk Management framework
- Partner with Woolworths Group to align safety assurance frameworks where appropriate
- Represent Petstock Group in Woolworths Group projects and cross‑functional squads
- Provide coaching, guidance and education to uplift assurance, risk and system‑thinking capability
- Act as a subject matter expert in assurance methodologies, governance frameworks and control design
The capability we’re looking for
- Proven experience in WHS / OHS auditing and assurance roles
- Strong understanding of safety management systems and risk frameworks
- Experience leading and coordinating internal and external audits
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and reporting skills
- Ability to build strong, trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
- Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills
- Resilience and the ability to work under pressure
- Lead Auditor qualification (essential)
- Experience working with or within safety‑related disciplines
- High attention to detail and strong administration capability
- Formal qualifications in WHS / OHS or a related discipline desirable
