Job Description

Salary Ranges: AUD 170,000 ~ 210,000 Annually + RSUs

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Risk Senior Manager for Pacific region. The successful candidate will report directly to the country CRO, providing support and second line risk management advice and oversight of the risk identification, assessment and mitigation efforts to safeguard the stability and integrity of the organisation's operations in the Pacific (ie. Australia and New Zealand).

This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of non-financial risk, local regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Your mission

As a Risk Senior Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Be a critical partner to the Pacific Chief Risk Officer in supporting the development and execution of the global risk management strategy tailored to the region.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate risks specific to the Pacific region with a focus on non-financial risks (primarily operational risks).
  • Work closely with product teams to value add on risk insights into product changes, new products and market launch, open issues and incidents, and horizon scan for risks relevant to the region. 
  • Monitor and analyse regional market trends, product risks, incidents, regulatory developments, and emerging risk factors to assess their impact on the organisation's risk profile and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the implementation of risk management tools and systems in the Pacific region, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance risk monitoring, reporting, and decision-making processes, ensuring compliance with CPS 230 requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with business units and functions to design and implement effective risk mitigation strategies, controls and action plans. Monitor the design and operating effectiveness of controls including executing on controls assurance where necessary, and recommend enhancements as necessary. 
  • Prepare and deliver timely and accurate risk reports including the quarterly risk profile and updates to senior management and the Board of Directors, highlighting key risk exposures, trends, and emerging risks in the respective entities.

Qualifications

Experience we’re looking for: 

  • 8+ years of experience in the financial industry, preferably with a focus on the Pacific region, ideally with first line or second line experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading risk management functions with strong business engagement, including developing and implementing regional risk frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise risk and/or regulatory risk management within the regulated financial services industry, preferably in banking and/or payments. Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements particularly CPS 230 is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions in a dynamic and global environment.
  • Strong understanding of risk management concepts, legal and regulatory requirements, and other local market dynamics or geopolitical factors impacting the Pacific region, with the ability to assess and quantify risks across various business lines and geographies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders across different timezones and regions (ie. Asia and Europe)
  • Good understanding and experience working with GRC systems, management information, and/or other reporting systems. 
  • Strong commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a passion for promoting a strong risk culture and fostering collaboration across the organisation's operations.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is comfortable navigating the complexities of a subsidiary operation. 
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to drive results internally with global teams, while fostering a culture of local ownership and initiative.
