About the role 
 

We’re seeking a Risk Manager Data & AI Risk & Compliance who will  regularly monitor and review data and AI risk, compliance and obligations. This role involves working with the AI System Owners, AI Champions, Data Owners and Data Stewards communities to undertake activities to support the adoption, development and implementation of TU’s Data & AI governance and compliance frameworks and tools, including TU’s Information Management Framework.

You’ll join an innovative team of subject matter experts  who work collaboratively and have fun along the way. 
 

As our Risk Manager Data & AI Risk & Compliance, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work. 

Day-to-day, you will: 
 

  • Assist in developing data and AI risks and control’s responsibilities for the Data & AI Enablement Team
  • Measure and monitor the control effectiveness and perform assurance activities
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of Transurban’s data and AI risk assurance, compliance, reporting and monitoring
  • Support the development of KRI, RSS/RAS and Metrics for Risk compliance, and regular reporting for executive committees
  • Prepare and deliver regular and ad hoc data and AI driven risk and compliance reporting and insights
  • Coordinate data and AI reporting required for Risk Forums, Committees and Board risk papers
  • Work with the Data Literacy team to coordinate the data and AI risk training on processes and procedures for the teams
     

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including: 
 

  • A relevant tertiary degree or qualification or relevant practical working experience in risk management, control assurance, data and AI governance, data analytics, business reporting, program monitoring, and evaluation is desirable
  • 5-10 years’ experience in data and preferably AI risk management and assurance principles. Experience in operational risk management practices, RAS/RSS and Enterprise Risk Management
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislations, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes. Preferred experience in legal, data and AI obligations and data protection regulations
  • Understanding of a range of technologies including GRC Tools, data and reporting platforms. Understanding and application of information management
  • Experience working with large, complex enterprises, and working with data architects, modellers, and data governance to investigate and understand the complexities of the data
  • Analytical skills including understanding how to interpret business needs and requirements and translate these into operational or application requirements
  • Strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to co-ordinate with a large group of stakeholders at various levels and work to strict deadlines
  • Self-starter, with excellent time management and organisational skills. An accomplished and effective communicator at all levels and across all mediums
  • Able to think strategically and deliver the detail. Ability to solve complex problems, think laterally and challenge ideas. Ability to communicate complex findings and ideas in plain language
  • Scrum, Agile and Kanban environment experience
