The Risk Manager – Credit Bureau plays a pivotal role in the credit risk ecosystem by managing the organisation’s relationship with credit reporting bodies (CRBs) and ensuring the integrity, compliance, and strategic use of credit bureau data. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with the Australian and New Zealand credit reporting frameworks while supporting the development of data-driven risk strategies across acquisition, account management, and collections.
In this role, you’ll:
Bureau Relationship & Contract Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Australian and New Zealand credit bureaus.
- Manage bureau contracts, service level agreements, and performance reviews.
- Stay abreast of bureau product developments and ensure optimal service offerings for business needs.
Data Submission & Compliance
- Oversee the accurate and timely submission of consumer credit data in line with CCR (Comprehensive Credit Reporting) obligations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation or regulatory guidance and industry frameworks and
codes.
Bureau Data Governance & Quality
- Monitor the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data sent to and received from CRBs.
- Establish and maintain internal data governance standards related to credit reporting.
Credit Risk Strategy Support
- Partner with risk modelling and credit policy teams to optimise the use of bureau data in the credit strategy including scorecards, decision engines, and affordability models.
- Provide insight into bureau data trends, credit file behaviours, and industry benchmarks.
- Recommend strategic enhancements to the use of bureau data for credit risk management and customer lifecycle optimisation.
Audit, Reporting & Regulatory Engagement
- Prepare regular internal reports on bureau data quality, reporting volumes, and compliance performance.
- Support internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and external reviews related to credit reporting obligations.
- Liaise with legal, compliance, and privacy teams to ensure end-to-end adherence to regulatory
standards
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, Law, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in credit risk, data reporting, compliance, or a related function within financial services.
- In-depth knowledge of Australia’s credit reporting framework, including the Privacy Act and Credit Reporting Code.
- Hands-on experience working with Credit Bureaus
- Experience in working with or implementing Comprehensive Credit Reporting (CCR) frameworks.
- Understanding of credit lifecycle management including origination, portfolio management, and collections.
- Technical proficiency in tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, or SAS
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and vendor management capabilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a compliance-focused mindset.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to translate technical data issues into business language.
