We are seeking a talented RF Hardware Engineer to support the Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program as we plan for future work. This role will see you applying your skills to either our core product, upgrading the capability to integrate with related maritime communications projects, or modernization of the joint air battlespace management system.
BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.
In this role, you will leverage next generation technology, to support the warfighter in the rapidly evolving threat environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop diverse engineering solutions for RF, Electrical and Electronic solutions and custom electrical power equipment.
- Develop engineering documentation and ensure accurate configuration management of system hardware.
- Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the cost and schedule constraints of the project, adhering to quality guidelines.
- Communicate and collaborate with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, in a conscientious way.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering, or equivalent.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ, Electrical) in Electrical Engineering, or eligibility to obtain.
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
- Experience in RF design and analysis - experience with circuit design, impedance matching, filters and antennas.
- Experience in RF propagation and link budgets, with an ability to perform link budget analysis and evaluate system performance.
- EMI/EMC compliance - knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility standards and test practices.
- Ability to integrate RF subsystems and electronics into larger communications systems and collaborate with mechanical and software teams.
- Experience in writing technical reports and developing documentation related to electrical and RF systems.
- Experience in the development of work instructions and test procedures for periodic electrical safety testing of electrical systems.
- Experience with testing, debugging, and validation of electronic systems using oscilloscopes, multimeters etc.
Desirable:
- Experience within Defence or complex engineering project environments is desirable.
- Experience with secure and resilient communications systems (frequency hopping, encryption, or anti-jam techniques).
- Familiarity with satellite, radar, or tactical data link systems (e.g. Link 16, SATCOM).
- Experience in the development of production drawings for cable & wire harnesses.
- Experience in electronic and system design, including schematic capture and printed circuit board design (as well as for RF circuits), using CAD software such as Altium Designer.
- Exposure to defence standards and MIL-STD specifications.
- Experience in providing direction and/or delegating work effectively within engineering teams to ensure project objectives are met.
