Job Description

This is a rare opportunity to operate in a true partnership model by creating and driving strategic people initiatives for the APAC portfolio. Reporting to the Head of P&O – Americas & APAC, you will also work part of the broader global P&O team to ensure consistent and impactful people programs are delivered locally to ensure delivery to the P&O strategy. 

You will act as a key partner to the APAC leadership team (excluding China), this role actively participates in leadership team meetings relating to ANZ and Rest of Asia to support growth of these markets.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Actively engage in APAC (excluding China) leadership meetings and activities across the entire business, gaining insights beyond the HR department and business unit. 
  • Utilise your comprehensive business knowledge to provide pragmatic, helpful advice aligned with business objectives while upholding fairness and reasonableness. 
  • Cultivate a pragmatic and strategic relationship with the Directors and broader TOMRA organisation, proactively identifying opportunities for collaboration and sharing best practices to drive overall business excellence and strategic alignment.
  • Partner with leaders to deliver a full range of strategic, operational and tactical support aligned with the overall business strategy and direction.
  • Participate in relevant functional strategy, planning sessions and meetings to be the voice of P&O and to provide advice on how the P&O strategy aligns and support the functional strategy.
  • Provide high quality, meaningful and accurate HR advice, coaching and guidance across the full spectrum of HR; including but not limited to strategic alignment, legislative requirements, employee journey touchpoints, onboarding, retention and departures, organisational design, change management, talent and succession planning, diversity, equity & inclusion.
  • Provide recommendations and facilitate implementation of solutions in ANZ and Rest of Asia in areas of strategic workforce planning, total rewards assessment, performance management, organisational structure, and compliance.
  • Determine how the P&O function can support the business by developing and implementing short - medium term initiatives in accordance with the business strategy, to achieve success.
  • Problem solve and recommend solutions leveraging your experience, insights and access to knowledge to support your business areas.
  • Participate in business planning processes for relevant portfolio or teams where required.


Qualifications

About you:

  • 10 years+ experience as a strategic HR business partner, with 5 years international experience (ideally in Rest of Asia territories).
  • Experience in complex Australian Industrial & Employment relations.
  • Strong people management skills, bringing confidence, discipline, and an approachable manner. 
  • The ability to gain credibility quickly in an organisation, including the aptitude to really understand the business to a high detail. 
  • Experience influencing the right culture and behaviours across all levels of a business to achieve the right outcome to the business in win-win scenarios. 
  • Strong time management skills, both in planning and ongoing adjustments. 
  • Experience building relationships at all different levels and geographies across the business.
  • Extensive experience in human resources, both practically and of best practice, an up to date vision of Employee Experience.
  • Experience working with globally diverse teams, including knowledge of Australian, Japan, India legislation. 
  • Previous experience working with an overseas parent company and within matrix organisations.
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business, or similar.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport and be able to travel both domestically and internationally to visit employees in all offices, up to 20%.
