Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engineer with proven migration experience to join our team in Australia. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-grade virtualization solutions on Red Hat OpenShift, while playing a key role in supporting our broader cloud transformation initiatives.

You will lead end-to-end virtualization migration projects, including workload assessments, risk analysis, and cutover planning, ensuring smooth and low-risk transitions. The role involves optimizing virtualized compute, storage, and networking resources, maintaining OpenShift clusters, and resolving complex platform issues through deep troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Working closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams, you will ensure solutions align with organizational standards and compliance requirements. You will also develop and maintain documentation such as runbooks and architecture guidelines, implement automation to streamline operations, monitor performance and capacity, and provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior engineers and support teams.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Significant years of experience with Red Hat OpenShift platform administration and management
  • Experience with multi-cluster OpenShift deployments. virtualisation and management
  • Proven expertise in virtualization technologies, including KVM, hypervisors, and container-based virtualization
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing large-scale virtualization migration projects
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, container orchestration, and OpenShift-specific features
  • Proficiency in Linux/RHEL system administration and command-line operations
  • Experience with storage technologies, networking protocols, and virtual infrastructure design
  • Solid understanding of performance tuning, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist (RHCS) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) certifications
  •  
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as Ansible, Python, or Bash scripting
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and high availability solutions
  • Familiarity with cloud migration strategies and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions for virtualized environments
  • Understanding of security best practices in virtualized and containerized infrastructures
