Are you a tax expert passionate about superannuation and wealth management? FNZ is looking for a dynamic Quality and Tax Specialist to bring their expertise to our Fund Accounting team. In this key role, you’ll provide specialist tax knowledge, guide process improvements, and ensure consistent quality across our operations to better serve our clients.

 

As a Quality and Tax Specialist, you will support the Fund Accounting team, which manages the financial records of superannuation funds and IDPS schemes. You’ll play a vital role in preparing financial statements, overseeing tax compliance, and ensuring adherence to Australian Accounting Standards and Tax legislation. Beyond technical expertise, you’ll also train and upskill teams across FNZ, driving efficiency and deepening understanding of tax obligations.

The responsibilities will include:  

  • Bring specialist Tax knowledge on Superannuation and IDPS schemes, including legislative updates and implications for financial statements.

  • Oversee quality management for client financial statements, tax return preparation, and lodgement process.

  • Support month-end closures, compliance, and statutory obligations with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Monitor and ensuring adherence of Australian Accounting standards and Tax legislation for the Fund Accounting Team.

  • Monitor and implement tax legislative changes and ATO rulings.

  • Collaborate with internal and external tax specialists on complex tax matters.

  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of tax transactions and provide support to the Tax and Reconciliation teams.

  • Work with multiple stakeholders, including regulators, tax agents, clients, and auditors, to meet financial and regulatory requirements.

 

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate? 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • CA or CPA qualification.

  • 7 years’ experience as a tax accountant, preferably in financial services.

  • Proven expertise in preparing statutory financial reports.

  • Strong knowledge of tax in superannuation and wealth management in Australia.

Desirable Technical Experience:

  • Knowledge of financial products and securities.

  • Experience with superannuation wrap funds and successor fund transfers.

  • Exposure to Superannuation Fund Accounting processes, reporting, and APRA returns.
