We're REA

With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group  is changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step - whether that's finding or financing your next home.
Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we’re proud to have been named in Australia’s “Top 5” Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

At Commerce Platform, we strive to create a world-class commerce experience that is intuitive and flexible for every customer, powered by a platform that enables our internal teams to build and launch products with speed and autonomy.

As a platform, we support business critical functionalities across lines of businesses in REA ranging from product creation, pricing config, eligibility check, quoting, purchasing, billing and payment.

What the role is all about

  • Improve the quality and reliability of product and pricing configuration through well‑defined testing practices, regular configuration reviews, and proactive quality initiatives.
  • Review, audit, and validate existing and upcoming product and pricing configurations to ensure they accurately reflect approved business requirements, rules, and policies prior to release.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Engineers to ensure configuration requirements are clearly understood, reviewable, testable, and validated before implementation and release.
  • Participate in discovery and refinement activities (e.g. 60% and 90% sessions) to assess proposed configurations, identify quality, SOX, and PCI risks early, and contribute to practical mitigation approaches.
  • Define and execute end‑to‑end test approaches that cover product configuration, pricing rules, integrations, and downstream impacts, with a strong focus on configuration correctness and completeness.
  • Apply appropriate testing techniques and tools, including manual and automated testing, to verify configuration accuracy, reduce regression risk, and increase delivery confidence.
  • Identify, document, and manage quality risks across platforms, services, and integrations, with a particular focus on misconfiguration risks, data correctness, and rule conflicts.
  • Support and contribute to automated testing solutions, including API and data‑level validation, to continuously validate configuration behaviour within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Execute testing, configuration verification, and evidence‑gathering activities that support SOX and PCI compliance, including validation of controls, segregation‑of‑duties scenarios, and release readiness checks, in partnership with Engineering and Risk teams.
  • Champion Agile quality practices such as early testing, pairing, and bug bashes within squads.
  • Monitor and use quality metrics (e.g. test coverage, defect trends, configuration accuracy and audit findings) to continuously improve ways of working.
  • Contribute to reducing quality debt by improving test coverage, configuration documentation, auditability, and reusability of test assets.
  • Collaborate with Quality Guilds and peers to share learnings, uplift skills, and promote consistent quality and configuration governance standards across teams.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Architecture, DevOps, and Security to support reliable releases, well‑governed configuration changes, and overall platform stability.

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience working in software quality or quality engineering roles, with a strong focus on improving reliability and reducing regression.
  • Hands‑on experience testing backend systems, including APIs, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
  • Practical experience with test automation (particularly API and/or data‑level) and contributing tests within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as Agile delivery, cloud‑based systems, and continuous integration and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end and integration testing, with a risk‑based approach, particularly for product and pricing configuration.
  • Experience validating data flows and data correctness across services and integrations.
  • Exposure to SOX and/or PCI environments, supporting compliance testing or evidence‑gathering activities.
  • Comfortable collaborating in technical discussions with Engineers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts.
  • Clear communicator with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to translate technical behaviour into quality insights.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
