QA Engineer
The Role
As QA Engineer at Lyrebird, you’ll be the guardian of product quality - designing, implementing, and automating tests across our web, API, and AI-driven features.
You’ll work closely with our design and engineering teams to define acceptance criteria, spot risk early, and make sure every deployment is as stable as it is fast.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup, enjoys automating what others test manually, and takes pride in building systems that catch issues before users do.
About us
Lyrebird Health is transforming the quality and accessibility of healthcare by automating clinicians’ most time-consuming tasks. Thousands of clinicians across many disciplines already use Lyrebird - and that number is growing every day.
They trust us to deliver a fast, reliable, and secure experience. We value that trust above all else and strive to earn it while continuing to amaze our users.
What You'll Do
- Own the testing strategy across our product surface - web app, integrations, and API endpoints.
- Design and maintain automated test suites (end-to-end, regression, integration).
- Implement continuous testing within our CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, AWS).
- Define and document test plans and acceptance criteria for new features.
- Collaborate with engineers and PMs to identify, reproduce, and fix bugs early in the cycle.
- Monitor and improve test coverage, speed, and reliability.
- Champion product quality and performance across the entire engineering organisation.
What You Bring
- 3+ years experience in QA or Software Testing within a product-led environment.
- Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, or equivalent).
- Experience testing REST APIs and integrating automated API tests into pipelines.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar).
- Familiarity with TypeScript / JavaScript and ability to write automated scripts.
- Strong analytical mindset, structured thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first engineering culture.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience in healthtech, medtech, or regulated software environments.
- Knowledge of FHIR / HL7 standards, or healthcare system integrations.
- Exposure to AWS, Docker, or similar cloud infrastructure tools.
What Success Looks Like
- Every release is stable, predictable, and fast.
- Automated tests catch issues before customers do.
- Engineering velocity increases because of QA, not despite it.
- Test coverage and reliability continuously improve.
- Confidence in each deployment grows week by week.
At Lyrebird, you won’t just write code — you’ll help shape the future of the human experience.
If you want to pioneer, to create, and to see your work touch lives directly, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re building a team that reflects the diversity of the people who’ll benefit from our work. We want Lyrebird to be a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and able to thrive. If you’re from an underrepresented background in tech, we especially encourage you to apply — even if you don’t meet every single requirement.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene
Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
