Summary

Enveritas is looking for exceptional talent to join our team and to support our operations in Vietnam.

Background

Consumers are increasingly asking if the brands they trust are “sustainable” – that is, produced under acceptable social, economic and environmental practices. Companies have responded by setting targets for becoming “100% sustainable”. However, traditional approaches for verifying sustainability face challenges reaching farmers that are too small, too remote, or informally organized. Enveritas (www.enveritas.org) is building solutions for smallholder coffee farmers that are currently beyond the reach of existing sustainability certification or verification approaches. We have developed a rigorous, scalable and transparent method of verification that works in this “underserved space.” This verification is the backbone of our Responsible Sourcing platform that helps companies meet their sustainability targets by investing in the areas that need it most.

Enveritas is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 and works in most major coffee-growing countries in the US, with a remote-first environment and hubs in diverse locations such as New York, Uganda, Ethiopia, Colombia, and Indonesia. Enveritas combines the rigor of its systems and processes with an intense effort to collect credible data from the field, accompanied by inspiring and unique stories (insights) that permit our clients to work together with stakeholders to improve the coffee grower’s livelihood. Our operations in Africa and Asia cover major commodity-growing countries such as Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

What You Will Do

Your role is to coordinate operations and projects in Vietnam, and lead/plan other strategic projects in Vietnam or wider Asia/Africa. You will report to Enveritas’ Regional Operations Lead - Asia. More specifically, this role will cover the following:

  • Coordinate operations and projects for Vietnam. This involves our existing impact project, and/or machine learning operations, in tandem with regular operational demands. You will work closely with our Vietnam team.
  • Lead, plan, execute other strategic projects in Vietnam, and potentially in other countries in Asia/Africa
  • Develop, manage stakeholder relationships and communications in Vietnam, and potentially other countries in Asia

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of relevant professional work experience in consulting, project management, business, finance, the coffee sector, international development, or sustainable agriculture
  • Clear track record of working in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment
  • Self-starter; demonstrated ability to problem-solve and manage complex projects from start to finish (project design to implementation); rolls up sleeves to get job done
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to navigate complex operating/political environments; savvy, trustworthy and effective communicator
  • High level of rigor and attention to detail
  • A driving interest in sustainability, and desire to alleviate poverty
  • Strong worth ethic and professionalism, particularly when doing independent and remote work
  • Analytical competencies, with experience in data analysis and deriving relevant insights from datasets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications, familiarity with quantitative data collection software/platforms; knowledge of Python or other programming languages beneficial, but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree and excellent academic record, related to development studies, economics, business, statistics, or other relevant discipline
  • Native or highly proficient in Vietnamese (spoken and written), ideally based in Vietnam (possible to be based elsewhere in Asia, but will require frequent travel to Vietnam)

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
