What You Will Get To Do:

The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate reporting and financial oversight to support our Australian operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Raise accurate project invoices in line with contract terms, reflecting project milestones and deliverables.

  • Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition, aligning with internal policies and contractual agreements.

  • Review client contracts to confirm billing and revenue terms, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards.

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding timesheets to capture all billable hours for invoicing.

  • Support the migration to Workday, assisting in process improvements for seamless timesheet management.

  • Set up new projects in Workday, ensuring accurate financial and project management data.

  • Maintain manual tracking of Jira project billings and revenue recognition to ensure accurate financial records.

  • Perform software capitalisation calculations, including end-to-end reviews, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

  • Update quarterly impairment files for software projects, conducting necessary checks and adjustments.

  • Work closely with international teams to validate project data and maintain financial consistency.

  • Collaborate with the PMO to refine financial processes and enhance overall project financial management.

  • Populate the professional services report for U.S. reporting, ensuring timely and accurate data submission.

  • Manage contract fulfilment entries and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payments.

  • Provide additional support as needed to assist the broader finance team.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or commerce with a major in Accounting or actively working towards CA/CPA certification.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations, with familiarity in industry-specific standards (preferred but not essential).

  • Proficiency in accounting software and strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial formulas, pivot tables, data linking, and spreadsheet management.

  • At least four years' experience in a complex business environment, ideally within software or consulting, with exposure to software revenue recognition preferred.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
