The Product Manager role is primarily responsible for maximising the value of the Cloud Access AWS Resell Product, by supporting defining the product vision, managing the product backlog, managing the end-to-end development and execution of the billing product to service customers. This extends to aligning the future development of billing products to align with Versent’s strategic direction and maximising the impact the product delivers to customers and the business.
Areas of Primary Responsibility
Strategy
- Lead and ensure the product delivers the greatest possible value to customers and the business
- Lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of end-to-end lifecycle management for AWS Resell and related platforms.
- Develop a product roadmap that allows for cost and compliance optimisation in support of a FinOps offering to support customer spend and overall resell value proposition.
- Liaise closely with AWS across billing initiatives, product development and other matters to address product roadmaps.
Finance & Commercial
- Manage the customer facing and AWS supplier facing billing and payable matters that arise with the end goal of managing the product portfolio to drive financial targets (GCM, EBITDA and gross revenue). Enable the team to continuously improve product performance, including identifying market trends, competitive threats and regulatory issues
- Partner with both AWS and Versent stakeholders to validate sales claims and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations related to AWS Resell activities. Plan closely with Versent finance for projected annual/monthly revenues and profits.
Engineering
- Lead the billing engine architecture and work to develop consistency between AWS and Microsoft billing processes as they evolve under Versent.
- Lead engineering team adaptation to drive automation and optimisation.
- Spearhead the development and continuous improvement of automated billing engines and MIS dashboards, adapting rapidly to changes in AWS reporting or discounting mechanisms, and enhancing monthly revenue visibility and commitment shortfall tracking.
Operations
- Identify and address operational challenges such as billing inconsistencies, credit/refund flows, and commitment shortfall calculations. Lead initiatives to automate manual checks and improve monthly revenue and profits visibility
- Develop a backlog to address issues that arise and mobilise addressing inconsistencies and issues across engineering team.
Sales
- Champion operational excellence by integrating Professional Services (PS) and Managed Services (MS) into cloud resell engagements. Use resell as a talking point for the customer to open up about their VPC issues, and act as a consultant (certifications add to my credibility) to gain customer trust and inroad into the account.
- Enable sales team to create and monitor CPPO offers. Set up partnerships with ISV with lucrative margins for the reseller.
