Lead the change, from the frontline

Based in Melbourne, the Product Insights Analyst responsible for providing strategic analysis and insights to support decision-making and drive profitability in the retail energy business.  They provide insights on market trends and competitor activities, analyse customer churn and pricing performance, support product development through market research, and aid strategic planning for future growth. The role requires strong analytical skills, stakeholder management, and an understanding of the evolving pricing landscape within the retail energy industry.

This is a maximum term 9 month paternity leave cover.

With respect, integrity and honesty, you will:

  • Lead engagement of key stakeholders to drive problem framing, option development, and recommendations against the overall strategic context of the organisation, with the ability to work through complexity, ambiguity, and uncertainty.
  • Work within the Strategy team to provide commercial insights and analysis for decision-making.
  • Provide insights to support product development and evolution for different customer segments through market analysis and research.
  • Aid strategic planning for long term growth through market research and analysis.
  • Conduct comprehensive competitor exploration and their market positions
  • Support various regular weekly/monthly/quarterly reports by providing insights on market changes, trends, and competitors’ campaigns.
  • Closely track competitors' price changes and rankings to predict their future behaviour.
  • Regularly monitor business performance through sales, held and churn rates
  • Conduct various churn analysis to identify reasons for customer attrition and develop strategies to reduce churn.
  • Develop churn prediction models to identify at-risk customers and devise strategies to improve retention rates.
  • Support the enhancement of scenario analysis capabilities
  • Support the commercial team in identifying how pricing strategies can be enhanced to maximise profitability and competitiveness.
  • Provide insights to support product development and evolution through comprehensive market studies.
  • Support SME strategy and product initiatives with detailed market evaluations.
  • Aid strategic planning for future growth by conducting market research and analysis.

What you’ll bring

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Deep analytical skills with the ability to oscillate between detail and high-level strategic perspectives.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills at all levels, including executive level.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact with senior management and connect with all parts of the business.
  • Proficient in developing, understanding, interpreting, and using predictive models.
  • Ability to explain complex data and concepts to different audiences.
  • Tenacity to challenge the status quo and bring logic to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in various qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including surveys, interviews and focus groups.
  • Extensive retail or wholesale energy experience, preferably in commercially oriented roles is desired.
  • Exposure to SQL and Python for querying databases, data analysis and model development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, commerce or a related field or equivalent.
