IN A NUTSHELL

At Bellroy, we work hard to create products that make our customers’ lives easier, last a long time, and stay true to their purpose. Guided by a design philosophy focused on simplicity and balance between form and function, our product development team is essential to bringing our ideas to life and setting them up for successful manufacturing.
We’re searching for a Product Developer who can turn design visions into practical, production-ready realities. In this role, you’ll work hands-on to refine, test, and prototype our designs. Whether in-house or with external suppliers, you’ll troubleshoot, adjust, and adapt until everything transitions smoothly to full-scale production. If you bring strong product development expertise, a drive for improvement, and an appreciation for thoughtful design, you’ll find a supportive team, the tools to elevate your skills, and a culture that values collaboration, resilience, and continuous learning.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…
  • 2-4 years experience in a similar role, demonstrating clear tenure in product development (ideally specialising in soft goods, apparel or accessories, but we are also open to candidates with industrial design backgrounds)
  • Experience in the Adobe Suite, particularly InDesign and Illustrator (essential)
  • Familiarity with Adobe cloud-based software, Excel and software/technology in general
  • Serious nous around the manufacturing process and technical drawing
  • Extensive testing knowledge and supplier prototyping management
  • A strong desire to learn, grow and adapt to shifting environments

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK YOU MIGHT HAVE…
  • Discussed a new design concept with the Design team and thought about the process to execute their vision
  • Managed the development process from design handover to bulk production, ensuring timelines are met
  • Conducted product testing and provided clear and concise feedback to suppliers
  • Coordinated with factories to maintain sample schedules and delivery timelines, taking proactive measures to ensure on-time delivery
  • Created a production book or technical drawings to share with suppliers
  • Identified why a production issue may be arising and brainstormed solutions to fix it
  • Worked with your manager to update some existing products in our range to improve quality and durability

LOCATION AND HOURS

This is a full-time role based in our HQ in Collingwood, Melbourne.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
