As a digital producer, you will primarily edit and publish high-impact food news and recipes, but you'll also write and help produce social videos that deliver everyday utility to a passionate audience. It is a fast-paced, vibrant space where journalistic excellence meets a shared love for culinary culture.

Day to day you will:

  • Write and pitch engaging food features, breaking news, and practical solution-driven content.
  • Collaborate with the social media team to film, edit, and produce engaging short-form video content.
  • Workshop headlines, hooks, and SEO best practices to maximise audience reach.
  • Coordinate newsletter recipe calendars and manage daily production runsheets.
  • Analyse reader metrics to inform future story choices and content strategies.
  • Assist across both the 'Eating In' and 'Eating Out' editorial streams as required.

What you'll bring:

  • Prior editorial and digital CMS production experience in a fast-paced publishing environment.
  • Strong copyediting skills with meticulous attention to detail, flow, and accuracy.
  • Proven capability in concise news and feature writing without needing direct guidance.
  • Hands-on experience filming and editing video content tailored for social media platforms.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and an adaptability to tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with audience analytics and data-driven content decisions.
  • An interest in food culture, cooking, nutrition trends and the local dining scene is desirable but not essential.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
