We are seeking an outstanding Principal Platform Engineer to join our multi-year Digital Transformation Program. In this role, you will work within the Digital Customer Crew to achieve an ambitious vision: to meet customer objectives by delivering unparalleled digital experiences. These experiences are built on a foundation of decoupled, resilient, and reliable technology. .

  • Increasing delivery speed and autonomy by simplifying and unwinding complex legacy architecture. 

  • Enabling always-available channels powered by simpler, more resilient technology. 

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within our team. You’ll bring your expertise in technology and Digital knowledge to define technical strategies and design innovative solutions for complex challenges within a business unit. Your approach will integrate a strong focus on risk management and security from the earliest stages of development. Additionally, you’ll mentor and guide engineers, fostering excellence in their craft and enabling them to deliver world-class applications.

  • Will shape the future of our digital platform while focusing on designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions that will enable us to build tomorrow's bank today.  

  • Experience in system engineering including Restful APIs (and SOAP), Kafka streaming, Legacy methods such as MQ and MFT, System adaptation, payload/protocol transformation and orchestration using tools and frameworks such as Mulesoft, Boomi, Camel, Temporal, Flink, etc 

  • Have experience with AWS, Salesforce Core, Financial Service Cloud and Marketing Cloud, and understand how these tools can be used to build and lead teams through complex multiyear builds. 

  • Use skills to lead our engineers in implementing complex technical solutions in a SaaS and cloud-based environment. You’ll possess a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate cyber security controls are implemented and play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team.  

  • Enjoy and have demonstrable experience building enterprise software 

  • Have a broad technology background with engineering as a core competency 

  • Have real world experience of building and leading teams who operate in the DevSecOps model. 

  • Have experience of addressing Tech Debt using a commercially focused and pragmatic approach. 

  • Have identified, gained support and ensured execution of technical direction and strategy 

  • Can design and implement solutions to complex problems, including onboarding and migrating to new tooling as well as removing obsolete systems and code. 

  • Encourages risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams. 

Technical Skills Required
 We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks.  

  • Thorough understanding of large-scale distributed systems, solution design and architecture principles 

  • Ability to design solutions to meet the highest possible quality standards while simultaneously balancing security, performance, availability, and maintainability concerns 

  • Developing 3-tier application both on-premises and on cloud covering: 

  • Integration of our digital platform with Salesforce CRM and Marketing application is crucial in developing scalable and efficient applications 

  • Frontend: React and Redux (preferred) or Angular/Vue/Svelte etc.  Javascript and/or Typescript. 

  • Backend: Java and Python (preferred) or Go, .Net etc.  

  • APIs & Database: SQL and NoSQL experience (both admin and usage). 

  • Microservices design and implementation of highly scalable APIs. Solid technical background in building and designing data integration, microservices and workflow automation on cloud platforms using AWS 

  • Expertise in setting up DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging and monitoring tools (GitHub, GitHub Actions , TeamCity, Octopus, Artifactory, Snyk and SonarQube) 

  • Knowledge in Salesforce Core and Marketing Cloud products. 

  •  Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation). 

  • Mentoring and coaching other Engineers, to deliver world-class applications is a key responsibility 

  • Configuration Management. 

  • Containerisation.
