The DevSecOps & Database crew is responsible for building and securing the foundational database infrastructure that supports critical enterprise systems. The Oracle squads blend deep technical expertise in database engineering with modern DevSecOps practices to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms.

Your Impact and Contribution

We’re looking for a highly experienced Principal Engineer with deep Oracle knowledge, Exadata experience and modern DevSecOps skills, to join our DevSecOps & Database Platform Engineering team. This role is critical to the design, performance, and security of our enterprise-grade Oracle environments, with a focus on Exadata architecture and high-volume OLTP systems.

You’ll bring deep technical expertise across Oracle RDBMS, PL/SQL development, and performance tuning, along with strong Unix/Linux scripting skills and ideally some experience of Oracle on AWS. You’ll also play a key role in integrating database operations into CI/CD pipelines and applying DevSecOps principles to drive automation and reliability.

This is a hands-on engineering role with strategic impact, ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, understands the security implications of database design, and can influence best practices across the platform.

In summary, you may expect to:

  • Architect and manage high-performance Oracle Exadata environments for enterprise-critical workloads.
  • Design secure and scalable database solutions aligned with best practices and compliance standards.
  • Develop and optimise advanced PL/SQL code to support complex business logic.
  • Perform deep performance tuning and troubleshooting across Oracle RDBMS platforms.
  • Automate operational workflows using Unix/Linux shell scripting and DevOps tools.
  • Deploy and support Oracle workloads on AWS, ensuring seamless cloud integration.
  • Integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous delivery (Liquibase experience a plus).
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership across the platform.

Your Skills and Experience

  • In-depth understanding of Oracle Exadata architecture
  • Advanced Unix/Linux operating system and shell scripting skills
  • Experience deploying and managing Oracle on AWS
  • Strong grasp of database design, concurrency, and performance/scalability in high-volume OLTP environments
  • Deep understanding of security implications in Exadata and database design
  • Advanced PL/SQL development and Oracle RDBMS tuning skills
  • Proven DevOps experience, including exposure to CI/CD tools and pipelines
