We’re searching for a visionary Principal Engineer to join our Wealth Management APAC team in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a high-impact role that influences how engineering is done — not just what gets built. If you're passionate about technical excellence, scalable solutions, and creating a culture of engineering mastery, we want to hear from you.

Some of the amazing things you’ll be involved in:

  • Shaping and leading the architectural roadmap for the Wealth Management domain — ensuring it’s scalable, resilient, and aligned with strategic goals.

  • Embedding best-in-class engineering practices that uplift quality, accelerate delivery, and increase team engagement.

  • Acting as a critical voice in high-impact delivery initiatives — driving governance, predictability, and architectural clarity.

  • Championing secure and compliant development by embedding security, risk, and regulatory considerations into the DNA of every build.

  • Enabling engineering velocity by refining workflows, adopting cutting-edge tools, and removing bottlenecks.

  • Coaching engineers and emerging technical leaders to build a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture.
Partnering with global stakeholders across product, security, technology, and operations to deliver integrated, impactful outcomes.

What you will bring:

  • Deep expertise in designing and scaling distributed systems, with strong experience applying architectural patterns like microservices and event-driven design.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and test-driven development.

  • A strong understanding of secure coding, regulatory requirements, and the Wealth Management domain.

  • Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders — both technical and non-technical — across geographies and functions.

  • A track record of mentoring engineers and creating environments where technical excellence and learning thrive.

  • Analytical thinking, strategic foresight, and the ability to balance big-picture goals with immediate delivery demands.

  • A mindset of ownership, integrity, and adaptability — someone who thrives in complexity and leads through change.

Why work with us?

  • 8 additional paid days per year to extend your weekends

  • Hybrid working

  • Generous cash bonus for every successful referral

  • Starting school leave - 8.5 days of leave to assist your children with the transition to school

  • Up to 26 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary carers (up to 4 weeks for secondary carers), and the ability to work part-time when returning to work

  • 3 days’ paid leave per year to participate in charity initiatives

  • Discounted health insurance premiums

  • Access to learning and development programs through LinkedIn Learning

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
