We are looking for a Principal  Data Scientist to influence and drive the creation of actionable Insights and impactful AI features powering Culture Amps advanced product features. We have a unique, world class data set covering employee engagement and performance globally. This role will be a key part of the data science leadership team and as the most senior individual contributor, you will play a crucial role in shaping and driving an uplift in problem definition, data exploration, insight generation, metrics formation, AI feature development and evaluation both in the data group and the wider company. You will be a master of your craft, and enjoy teaching and mentoring others to maximize the impact of the specialist data science function.

You will

  • Contribute in a hands-on role to tackle difficult problems, unblock teams, and to demonstrate data science best practice through personal contribution and as part of teams.
  • Collaborate across team and camp boundaries to drive alignment on our data strategy and that data science techniques are being effectively applied across all our delivery activities. 
  • Ensure Data Scientists and their teams are supported, productive, enjoy their work, have clear remits, and help them to resolve issues to improve culture and engagement to maximise their impact on our mission.
  • Ensure a steady flow of consistent communication within and across all of our product groups. Facilitate knowledge-sharing, plan visibility and alignment of large initiatives between the teams, Directors and VPs
  • Mentor the Data Scientists and ML engineers in the Data group, to support their needs and development, and drive consistent, sustainable excellence in data science.
  • Be part of the Data Science Leadership Team that contributes to strategy as well as maturing our data science practice.

You have

  • Significant practitioner experience across data science, as well as competency in ancillary skills: data engineering, data analytics, software engineering.   
  • Demonstrated effective thought leadership in Data Science to influence a software business across all areas of data science including: research, hypothesis testing, understanding and leveraging data, evaluating data and AI features, metrics definition and experimentation.  
  • Excellent facilitation and stakeholder management skills - You make clear and timely decisions in the face of many nuanced trade offs and varied opinions.
  • Experience in a range of tools sets comparable with our own: Database technologies: SQL, Redshift, Postgres, DBT, Dask, airflow etc. AI Feature Development: LangChain, LangSmith, pandas, numpy, sci kit learn, scipy, hugging face, etc. Data visualization tools such as plotly, seaborn, streamlit etc

  • A clear communicator who can share a compelling plan and the reasoning behind your decisions, ensuring everyone with varying degrees of experience and context can understand your message and approach.
  • A natural coach and teacher - You always make time to coach and teach all those around you. This includes data scientists in your group, your peers and those you report to.
  • A Driver - You get things done and you like to roll up your sleeves and get to work, pushing a number of initiatives forward simultaneously.
