Principal Data Consultant (Sydney or Melbourne)

We are on the lookout for a passionate data expert who will be at the heart of our data ecosystem and ready to help nurture and grow opportunities, lead clients through their data discovery, as well as mature our team capability. In this role, you’ll be able to blend strategy, client advisory and hands-on data engineering, across multiple clients as we lead them through data discovery and implementation.

Day to day this can include:

• Navigating clients through their data vision and providing guidance on data strategy, data architecture and data governance.
• Pre-sales support including discovery workshops, client presentations and proof-of-concept designs 
• Nurture and growing business opportunities
• Designing, developing, testing, documenting and maintaining data models, reports and dashboards, and data pipelines that meet business needs and requirements
• Data Engineering on a variety of data projects and delivering client outcomes

This role requires a strong storyteller, weaving together powerful technical vision to bring clients on the journey. Your application should demonstrate:

• A background in software development and data engineering, ideally within consulting or project oriented environments
• Knowledge & experience in data infrastructure and data architecture & big data frameworks
• A strong track record of delivery on a variety of data consulting projects across data strategy, data architecture and data governance.
• Confidence to guide clients on leveraging their data assets, including recommendations for analytics tools, machine learning applications, and data monetisation strategies.
• Strong client stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging C-level executives, IT teams, and business units.
• Demonstrated ability to understand complex business problems, craft innovative data-driven solutions, and measurably improve our clients' operations.
• Proven leadership in solution delivery, combined with hands-on technical skills.

While we have our preferred tools, and you will too, we’re focussed on meeting the client wherever they are on their data journey, whichever tools they’re using. An opinionated, but ultimately tech-stack agnostic approach is important to our work. A broad knowledge across the data landscape, data frameworks (eg Spark, Hadoop, Flink), cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), and related tools will set you up for success in this role.
