Job Description

  • Lead assurance activity and enhance safety leadership across Qantas Group operations, providing strategic guidance and operational support to diverse stakeholders.
  • Coach and develop auditing capability to drive operational excellence and strengthen compliance.
  • Permanent leadership role based in BNE, MEL, SYD, or PER

Group Assurance is responsible for providing independent and objective evaluations on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control systems in various areas and functions of the Airline Group. Reporting to Manager Group Assurance Operations the incumbent lead and execute the delivery of Audits, and assurance activity within the Qantas Group including Jetstar Group and ensure quality advisory services are delivered.
 
As the Principal Assurance you will be seen as a leader for airline operational advice and safety support encompassing a broad range of stakeholders across multiple departments. Working with colleagues and teams across the network, you will engage coach and support assurance , capability in operational excellence.   Fundamental to this role is the requirement to build and sustain clear communications, excellent relationship management to foster a positive safety culture across a diverse workforce while balancing assurance priorities and operational delivery.

You’ll have – 

  • 5 years + working in aviation operations such as Flight Operations, Cabin, Engineering, Airports/Ground Operations or Workplace Health and Safety and Environment
  • Tertiary Qualification- Professional aviation management or safety qualifications 
  • Proven experience in managing and leading, safety and quality management systems, audits and other assurance activities.
  • Successful completion of approved lead auditor and safety management system training and qualifications as applicable to the role sound working experience in aviation operations (highly regarded)
  • Proven knowledge and application of safety management system processes in high reliability organisations.  Including but not limited to hazard identification, data analysis, auditing, investigations, and risk management 
  • Sound knowledge of applicable regulatory and safety legislation.
  • Proven experience in implementing and embedding cross business change programs to improve safety, risk and operational management.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and influence stakeholders across the business to develop process and manage relationships.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in the development of training and auditing
    material and report preparation. 
  • Strong Analytical skills – ability to gather, interpret and present data. Assess data completeness and identify trends using business tools. 
  • Demonstrate systems capability in compliance and assurance, guidance and coaching of leaders and corporate governance reporting.
