About the role
We’re seeking a Principal AI Product Manager to lead the development, delivery, and lifecycle management of AI products across Transurban’s Data & AI portfolio.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Manage an AI Engineering team and work closely with internal stakeholders to drive the ideation, prioritisation, and execution of AI initiatives that enhance business performance and customer outcomes
- Build and maintain a prioritised backlog of high-value use-cases and roadmap for delivery.
- Manage the lifecycles of AI Products in the Data & AI portfolio, ensuring they are aligned with strategic objectives with demonstrable benefits, cost effective, and compliant with Responsible AI principles and practices.
- Maintain engagement processes that govern the planning, evaluation, approval, initiation, execution, control and status reporting of AI Products in the portfolio at various stages of the project life cycle, including ideation, planning, scheduling, prioritisation, budgeting, change control, quality, governance, delivery, operation, ROI reporting and decommissioning.
- Lead the team in Agile ceremonies and apply MLOps best practices to ensure AI Products meet a high standard of software engineering and operational excellence
- Lead and manage the delivery using Agile methodologies, ensuring processes to manage scope within the timebox
- Partner with teams across Transurban to align on expectations, strategy, approach, and execution of projects
- Engage with stakeholders and business owners to ensure AI Products are meeting and/or exceeding expectations
- Support team members to create development plans and have regular career and development conversations
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and psychologically safe team culture.
- Proven experience in leading AI Product Lifecycle and Portfolio Management within a complex enterprise environment.
- Proven experience in Agile methodologies, AI/ML techniques, MLOps practices and Software Engineering principles for robust and safe AI Products.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and deliver high-value AI use-cases aligned with strategic objectives.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a track record of influencing senior business leaders.
- Experience in emerging AI technologies such as Agentic AI, Multi-Modal LLMs, and Deep Learning
- Ability to review AI/ML algorithms and contribute code (Python) as required.
- Demonstrated success in driving adoption and change management for AI products across business units.
- Ability to shape product vision and guide architectural decisions for scalable AI solutions.
- Experience in benefits realisation, ROI tracking, and operational excellence in AI product delivery.
- Experience in project governance, financial control, and risk management across AI initiatives.
