The roles
We currently have fantastic opportunity in our Ports & Maritime team for an established Ports & Terminal Engineer to work as part of a cohesive team to successfully deliver various ports and maritime engineering services to a wide range of clients, including government, Port authorities and private sectors. This position may be based at our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane offices.
As a Ports & Terminal Engineer you will provide high quality design, analysis and engineering knowledge and effective project management skills to support the project delivery and ongoing business needs. You will be involved in planning and conducting of engineering projects of a complex nature whilst proactively collaborating with appropriate team members (including overseeing junior engineers), contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables to meet client requirements and actively contribute to the commercial success of the team.
Suitable applicants will demonstrate:
- A min of 8+ years’ ports & terminals experience in a similar role
- Sound experience in waterfront structures and landside terminal design
- Degree qualified in Civil, Structural or Maritime Engineering (or Similar)
- Established knowledge and experience in the layout, design and operation of port infrastructure and terminals
- Experience managing project deliverables from start to finish, experience working on landside terminal design projects would be highly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal skills and superior report-writing competencies
- Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international)
Key responsibilities and tasks for this role include:
- Technical design and oversight of waterfront and landside terminal projects
- Manage the successful delivery of various maritime engineering projects in accordance with HSE and QA policies and procedures either individually, as part of a project delivery team, or by leading a project delivery team, depending on project complexity
- Planning and design of small-scale up to large-scale maritime infrastructure for the ports, resources, water infrastructure, aquaculture and renewable energy sectors
- Preparation of proposals, fee estimates and programs for consulting projects
- Liaises with clients, potential and current, for the purposes of service delivery, networking, and business development
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and supervision for junior engineers
