What You Will Get To Do:           

As a PMO Governance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all projects adhere to organizational governance standards, frameworks, and compliance requirements. You will oversee the implementation of best-practice methodologies, enabling consistent delivery across portfolios while maintaining transparency, accountability, and alignment with strategic objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Establish and enforce governance frameworks to ensure projects comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain PMO policies, processes, and templates, driving consistency and scalability across delivery teams.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio health, including status updates, RAID logs, financial tracking, and resource utilization.
  • Facilitate governance forums and steering committees, ensuring timely decision-making and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Provide oversight and assurance on project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring adherence to quality gates and compliance checkpoints.
  • Lead risk and issue management practices, ensuring proactive identification, escalation, and resolution.
  • Champion continuous improvement, leveraging lessons learned and metrics to refine governance processes and enhance delivery maturity.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
  • Ensure audit readiness, maintaining accurate, version-controlled documentation and compliance evidence.
  • Support change management initiatives, ensuring governance frameworks evolve to meet organizational and regulatory changes.
  • Mentor and guide project managers and PMO team members, building capability and promoting best practices.

What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in PMO governance, portfolio management, or project delivery within financial services, wealth management, or technology environments.
  • Deep understanding of governance frameworks, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
  • Proven expertise in SDLC, Agile, and structured project management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, influencing at senior levels and driving consensus.
  • Experience in financial controls, budget oversight, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in PMO tools and platforms, including Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) and portfolio management systems.
  • Calm, assertive, and decisive under pressure, ensuring governance integrity in challenging situations.
  • Ability to lead change and embed governance practices across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Experience in Superannuation, Wealth Management, or Transfer Agency operations (highly desirable).
  • Proven capability to mentor and uplift PMO and project delivery teams.
