Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.
About the role
In this role, you’ll build specialist capability across employee relations, people data, process excellence, and HR technology (including Workday and ServiceNow), setting you up for future opportunities in business partnering, employee experience, or people operations.
The team is both the tier 1 HR service team and the HR fulfilment team and must have expert knowledge across a broad remit to deliver a superior people experience
You’ll join a supportive team that values curiosity, continuous improvement, and knowledge‑sharing. We work closely together to solve problems and celebrate wins.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Own your portfolio of cases and people queries end‑to‑end, giving you the opportunity to build confidence, credibility, and judgment in real time.
- Examples include supporting employee movements, data governance, policy interpretation, onboarding and offboarding processes, and improvements to digital first tools.
- Know our people policies and procedures intimately, enabling you to respond to queries with confidence
- Play a key role in embedding and enabling employee and leader self-service, shaping and implementing improved ways of working to ultimately deliver a superior people experience
- Thrive on accountability, quality work and SLAs as part of your DNA
- Support innovative and digital first continuous improvement initiatives to deliver a great people experience
- Manage our people data in Workday for operational and project requirements
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Solid experience within a People & Culture/Human Resources team
- You’ll have a natural service ethos, having gained prior experience in roles that require quick thinking and problem solving while delivering exceptional service
- You’re systems savvy, with the ability to pick up new processes easily. Experience with Workday and ServiceNow will be advantageous
- You’re comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels, and won’t be afraid to use your know how and judgement in the moment to provide coaching and education
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment, consistently demonstrating high levels of drive and energy to deliver whilst solving complex issues and challenges
- You’ll be a stickler for detail, always demonstrating critical thinking, even when under pressure
- You’re curious with the tenacity to take on this role and work with us to find more efficient ways to manage the day-to-day
If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
- A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
- 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
- Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
- Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
- Share offers and insurance benefits
- Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days
We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability.
