About Transurban
Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our People and Culture team. With a focus on our payroll processes, you will work across the function to gather technical, system and business requirements, documenting opportunities for improvement. Through consultation with key stakeholders, you will help to deliver simplified processes, strengthened governance and improved people experiences. This role requires a strong focus on business analysis, effective communication, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Collaborate with People and Culture teams, with a focus on the Payroll function, to document issues, process changes, and business requirements.
  • Elicit and clearly document detailed business requirements for system enhancements, ensuring alignment with business value.
  • Maintain a comprehensive, end-to-end view of process changes, understanding and communicating the impact of these changes.
  • Ensure proper handover of solutions to Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations.
  • Support the change management process for any improvements impacting end-user experience.
  • Proactively ask the right questions to ensure that project documentation is complete and addresses all requirements.
  • Coordinate activities within Jira including the creation and maintenance of cards.
  • As a member of an agile team, attend standups and coordinate engagement of stakeholders for the purpose of refining requirements and providing relevant updates.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • Strong business analysis skills with an emphasis on end-to-end systems thinking.
  • Experience in People & Culture processes, with understanding of Payroll processes preferred.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to constantly seek ways to optimise processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using HR ERP systems (preferably Workday) and/or Payroll systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in agile teams and delivering complex projects.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing, and inclusion, where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration, and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions, and concerns.
We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact us on [email protected].

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
