Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. The Kaluza Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all.
From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system.
We champion a flexible, hybrid work approach and we find that teams often benefit from coming together in the office at least 2-3 days a week to foster connection and accelerate progress.
Outside of these collaborative opportunities, we aim to be as flexible as possible to balance work with life. As a company we come together annually for our conference and end of year celebrations!
Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?
You’ll be joining the People Team at Kaluza - a team of 20 spread across London, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Melbourne!
You’ll report to Lizzie, our Head of People - Australia, and will have close relationships across the People, Finance & Technology functions.
What will I be doing?
You will be joining our People team in Melbourne, with support from our global community of People Partners, working with leaders to build a great culture and People Experience.
Our business is complex and has a range of different stakeholders and specialisms within it, all focused on building a scalable platform to power the future of energy.
Your role in this will be focused on building trusted relationships with our People Leadership community. You will support the personal development of that community through advising and coaching them on all aspects of the People Experience at Kaluza.
Within this role you will be responsible for:
- Organisational Change: support the Head of People - Australia and wider People Partnering team with any organisational changes in the people plans. This may include growth and acquisition, TUPE, or a range of other scenarios.
- Policies: advise and guide employees on our Kaluza People Policies. Use your insight from working with the business to inform how our policies are shaped, iteratively improving them in line with our culture. You will also keep on top of employment laws and create new policies for our jurisdictions in Australia.
- People (Employee) Relations: working with People Leaders and their teams to resolve complex employee relations issues including performance management, disciplinary & grievance matters and absence management.
- Engagement: working with people leaders to build and maintain highly engaged teams, measuring the effectiveness of this through our engagement survey.
- Other: We are a small People team in Melbourne, meaning sometimes we get the opportunity to diversify our skillset by leaning into other areas of the People function.
About You
Ideally you’ll have/be:
- Understanding of employment law and how this works in practice
- Some experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology or SaaS environment, navigating the complexities of rapid scaling.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively embrace and adapt to change, thriving in dynamic and evolving organizational landscapes.
- Able to build strong, trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Experience of advising, coaching, and developing managers on a range of people issues
- Able to navigate employee relations issues with pragmatism and effectiveness, with support from escalation routes where needed
- Passionate about providing a great people experience, as this role sits firmly in the ‘customer-facing’ part of our People Team
- Someone who thrives in a diverse and fast-moving environment
What will set you apart
- Experience of working with stakeholders within Technology and Product functions
Why might this role not suit you?
We are a small, but highly focused team which means we’re looking for someone who enjoys connection and collaboration, but who can operate confidently and independently.
We are going through a period of significant evolution which is exciting and with it brings lots of opportunity and challenging work, which is not for everyone. To be successful in this role, you will be excellent at operating in ambiguous, changing environments, balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
