About the role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Project Analyst to play a key role in delivering high-impact payroll initiatives that support our broader people strategy. This role sits within the People & Culture function and works closely with Payroll Operations, Technology and P&C project teams to design, deliver and embed compliant, efficient payroll solutions into our business-as-usual operations.
Using your payroll domain expertise, you’ll take a holistic view of the end-to-end payroll ecosystem—identifying risks and opportunities, enhancing system controls, and helping deliver change that enhances both operational efficiency and employee experience.
As our Payroll Project Analyst, you will help contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Conduct detailed analysis of current-state payroll processes, data flows and technology solutions
- Design and document future-state payroll solutions that can be embedded into Payroll Operations
- Develop and enhance payroll tools, processes and controls, leveraging digital and AI solutions where appropriate
- Support user acceptance testing through the development of business-led test scenarios
- Lead effective handover of project outcomes into BAU through change strategies and learning programs
- Assess and help transform end-to-end payroll process monitoring to support governance, accuracy and timeliness across the entire payroll process
- Analyse payroll and time & attendance data at scale to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
- Act as a payroll system matter expert for new technology solution assessments of market leading payroll tools
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Deep payroll domain expertise across payroll operations, industrial instruments and project delivery
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Proven experience working with complex payroll data and system configurations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio and Word
- Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Long Service Leave legislation across eastern seaboard states
- Experience with HCM, ERP or payroll systems (Workday and/or iChris preferred)
- Understanding of industrial relations in complex award and enterprise agreement environments
- Experience working in agile project teams
- Exposure to payroll project testing practices
