About Your Role

As the Payroll Manager at Heidi Health, you will play a pivotal role in owning the accuracy, reliability and scalability of our global payroll function while partnering closely with our Finance and People teams and our external providers. You will oversee end-to-end payroll delivery across all regions, payroll governance, compliance and the implementation of modern payroll tools and processes, enabling Heidi to scale with confidence.

You will lead the coordination of payroll across multiple countries and third party providers, ensuring high-quality outcomes, strong controls and a great employee experience. You will also collaborate cross-functionally to streamline data flows, implement automation and support Heidi’s rapid expansion into new markets.

This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment and wants the opportunity to build a world-class global payroll function from the ground up.

What you’ll do:

  • Own end-to-end Australian and global payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely processing and compliance with all reporting obligations.

  • Manage and hold outsourced payroll providers, EORs and in-country partners to account, driving service excellence, issue resolution and continuous improvement.

  • Lead major payroll transformation projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and harmonization initiatives.

  • Partner closely with the People team to ensure payroll-critical data is accurately captured in the HRIS and to drive ongoing improvements to data quality, structure and upstream processes that feed payroll.

  • Drive simplification and automation, reducing manual inputs, improving data flows and embedding standardised approvals and controls.

  • Develop global payroll policies, frameworks and SOPs to support new country launches and rapid headcount growth.

  • Provide trusted reporting and insights on headcount, employment costs, taxes and payroll metrics to Finance, People and leadership.

  • Partner with Finance, People and Legal leaders to advise on payroll implications of policy changes, international hiring and strategic decisions.

What we will look for:

  • Proven experience running Australian and multi-country payroll operations at scale.

  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation

  • Strong expertise in payroll compliance, governance and global payroll transformation.

  • Proven ability to drive automation, process improvement and scalable operating models.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders.

  • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset suited to fast-moving, high-growth environments.

  • Commitment to building strong teams and consistent ways of working across regions.

What do we believe in?

Heidi builds for the future of healthcare, not just the next quarter, and our goals are ambitious because the world’s health demands it. We believe in progress built through precision, pace, and ownership.

  • Live Forever - Every release moves care forward: measured, safe, and built to last. Data guides us, but patients define the truth that matters.

  • Practice Ownership - Decisions follow logic and proof, not hierarchy. Exceptional care demands exceptional standards in our work, our thinking, and our character.

  • Small Cuts Heal Faster - Stability earns trust, speed delivers impact. Progress is about learning fast without breaking what people depend on.

  • Make others better - Feedback is direct, kindness is constant, and excellence lifts everyone. Our success is measured by collective growth, not individual output.

Our mission is clear: expand the world’s capacity to care, and do it without losing the humanity that makes care worth delivering.

Who are Heidi?

Heidi is building an AI Care Partner that supports clinicians every step of the way, from documentation to delivery of care.

We exist to double healthcare’s capacity while keeping care deeply human. In 18 months, Heidi has returned more than 18 million hours to clinicians and supported over 73 million patient visits. Today, more than two million patient visits each week are powered by Heidi across 116 countries and over 110 languages.

Founded by clinicians, Heidi brings together clinicians, engineers, designers, scientists, creatives, and mathematicians, working with a shared purpose: to strengthen the human connection at the heart of healthcare.

Backed by nearly $100 million in total funding, Heidi is expanding across ANZ, the USA, UK, Canada, and Europe, partnering with major health systems

We move quickly where it matters and stay grounded in what’s proven, shaping healthcare’s next era. Ready for the challenge?

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
