About the role

As our Oracle APEX Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building and maintaining high‑quality technical solutions for the Bunnings Teams, Customers and Suppliers.

You’ll support the full software development lifecycle, contribute to problem‑solving across our systems, and help uplift engineering practices across the team.

You’ll also be hands‑on with support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement, while working closely with Developers, Quality Analysts, and Engineers in a highly collaborative environment.

What’s involved
  • Design, develop and deploy quality solutions using Oracle APEX, ensuring they meet business requirements and performance expectations.
  • Support existing applications by diagnosing and resolving issues quickly and effectively.
  • Work across the full SDLC, contributing to development, testing, code reviews and documentation in line with engineering best practice.
  • Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to implement new features and optimise backend infrastructure.
  • Drive continuous improvement and champion quality, helping the team shift left in testing and development practices.
Who we’re looking for

You’re an experienced Oracle software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and building reliable, scalable solutions. You’re comfortable working across multiple systems, environments and data sets, and you take pride in delivering clean, maintainable and well‑designed code.

You collaborate well with others, willingly share knowledge, and enjoy being part of a team that supports each other and continuously looks for ways to improve. You're curious, proactive and motivated by high‑quality engineering outcomes.

You'll need
  • Demonstrated experience in Oracle APEX development, ideally 3 plus years.
  • Strong understanding of databases (Azure, SQL Server, Oracle) and solid SQL skills.
  • Proven aptitude for problem‑solving and critical thinking.
  • Functional knowledge of Oracle APEX modules.
  • Capability to generate data fixes for known issues.
  • Knowledge of core SDLC principles, including agile software development, continuous deployment, behaviour‑driven development, code review processes, design documentation and infrastructure as code

You’ll be part of a workplace where you’ll feel like you belong.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
