ABOUT US

Retail is in our DNA and at Cotton On, we believe every part of our business plays a role in delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Our Avalon DC is where the scale of our business comes to life. It’s our largest global distribution centre - 50,000 sqm, 1,000 team members, and the critical link between our product and our customers across 700 stores and 8 brands.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the DC continues to evolve, we’re looking for an Operations Manager (Afternoon Shift) to lead end-to-end distribution performance across one of our most critical shifts at the Avalon DC. You’ll own people, productivity, service, and cost outcomes - ensuring operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and at scale.

Leading through a team of leaders, you’ll drive culture, performance, engagement, and capability across a large workforce, embedding a strong safety-first culture. You’ll oversee the execution of distribution and fulfilment activities, ensuring key service metrics are achieved while optimising labour, cost, and productivity.

Working cross-functionally, you’ll align on demand and priorities, using data and continuous improvement to streamline processes and enhance operational flow. You’ll also play a key role in workforce planning and building capability across the shift. If you’re a people-first leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, let’s chat.

Please note this role is for Afternoon Shift so availability required is: 3pm-11pm

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience leading large, complex teams within a high-volume DC or operational environment
  • Strong people leadership capability, with experience building engaged, high-performing teams through others
  • Strong operational and commercial acumen, including cost management and productivity optimisation
  • Experience working with WMS/TMS and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to balance people, performance, and customer outcomes at scale

OUR CULTURE

No fuss, no worries, we’ll roll up our sleeves and make it happen. But we go beyond just ‘doing the right thing’; we work in local communities and support them however we can.

While we’re working hard today, our eyes are always on tomorrow. Together we help to make tomorrow a better place for our stores, customers, work mates and each other.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
