What You’ll Do

Telstra InfraCo – D&C Infrastructure Delivery – FNS Project Delivery Team is responsible for Fixed Network Sites projects from both InfraCo and other Telstra businesses groups.

As a Technical Project Specialist you will provide specialist site and building engineering analysis, efficient solutions, high level scope of works, budget estimates and project timeframes for Building Engineering Services with compliance & consideration to Telstra Standards and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

This is how you will bring the purpose of your role to life:

  • Develop and implement short and mid-term network Building Engineering Services strategies in line with standards that deliver best value to Telstra and maximise Telstra’s revenue streams.
  • Ensure a proactive and holistic approach is taken across all aspects of Building Engineering Services including and not limited to:
    • Air Conditioning Plant.
    • AC Power Infrastructure – Incoming Mains, Main Switchboards, Distribution Boards (including provision to DC power systems), Lighting and Emergency Power Plants.
    • Fire Protection and Detection.
    • Building works – including building and demolishing projects
  • Facilitate actions with stakeholders to ensure key business outcomes and strategic imperatives are achieved. This includes liaising with Principal Planners, Regional Co-ordinators, Capacity Planners & DC Power Technology Specialists.
  • Delivery of Special Projects.
  • Reporting on the delivery of projects.
  • Provision of Technical Advice to assist stakeholders in delivering various technologies.

About you

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven & successful project management record.
  • A sound knowledge of the structure, purpose and network establishment process of Network Facilities.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a large design and delivery program including monitor review and audit for compliance, cost and quality.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple and diverse projects from conception to design and ready build, and mentor and teach skills in all aspects of Project Management to other team members.
  • Overall understanding of Telstra business systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial contract processes, procedures and approval related to the construction and maintenance of buildings.
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of construction, regulatory requirements, site sharing, and property acquisition directly related to mobile telecommunications networks.
  • High level of negotiation skills at all levels, both within and external to Telstra.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the relationships between Power and Building Infrastructure, Contract Management, Vendor Management, other Telstra Business units and relevant authorities (ie power supply authorities)
  • Ability to provide high level advice regarding all building design, acquisition and property related matters, including interfacing with Contract Management.

Not required but highly desirable:

  • Project management ability equivalent to AQF5 or better
  • Design management experience in ISO 9001 environment or similar
  • Contract management experience to A.S. 4917 or similar.
  • Understanding of property management & town planning issues relating to development projects
  • Experience in the civil construction industry with trade certificate or related qualification.
