We are now seeking an exceptional leader to take on the newly expanded role of National Commercial Manager – Transport. This pivotal position plays a key part in shaping the commercial success of our national and trans-Tasman transport operations, supporting a multi-billion-dollar retail network that spans Australia and New Zealand.
About the Opportunity
This is not your average commercial role. As the National Commercial Manager – Transport, you will lead strategic commercial planning, develop robust business cases, optimise supplier partnerships, and drive transformative value across one of the most dynamic areas of our business.
Reporting directly to the General Manager Transport, you will work alongside a talented leadership team including National Inbound and Outbound Transport Managers, Compliance, NZ operations, BLINK (our primary freight network), and key stakeholders across Supply Chain, Legal, Procurement, Finance, and Safety.
Your work will influence Bunnings’ performance at every touchpoint—from the way products move across our network, to the partnerships we build with 3PL providers, to the cost-to-serve outcomes that ensure we continue delivering value to our customers.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Provide commercial leadership across all key transport streams.

Represent the commercial lens in leadership forums, financial reviews, and cross-functional planning sessions.

Develop and manage large-scale commercial models to assess, challenge and track strategic transport initiatives and transformation projects.

Lead end-to-end contract management including whilst adopting a strategic approach to market engagement and tenders activity.

Lead commercial reviews and QBRs In conjunction with operations partners for major transport providers.

Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure service levels are met, risks are mitigated, and performance is continuously improved.

Build and lead a high-performing team including commercial analysts and managers, with a focus on capability development, clear accountability, and strategic thinking.

Identify and analyse cost drivers, inefficiencies, and performance trends to uncover opportunities for cost optimisation and service enhancement.

Build commercial awareness across the transport and supply chain function, developing tools, training and processes that embed a culture of excellence.

Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and simplification across commercial processes and contracts.
What You Bring
We’re looking for a strategic commercial leader who combines strong financial and commercial acumen with excellent stakeholder management and a continuous improvement mindset. You will be analytical, influential, and comfortable navigating complex environments to drive commercial value.
To be successful, you’ll bring:

Extensive Commercial experience within a large-scale supply chain or logistics environment

Strong commercial modelling, business case assessment, and financial analysis skills

5+ years in a senior commercial management role (preferably transport-focused)

Proven experience managing large 3PL contracts across transporter distribution

Demonstrated ability to lead tender processes, conduct post-implementation reviews, and drive supplier performance

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

A strategic mindset with a focus on execution, governance, and continuous improvement

Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of building high-performance teams

Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related field (preferred)
