We are committed to positively impact the people, the environment and the clients and communities we serve.

About the Role

Build your career. Learn from experienced professionals. Work on real projects that make an impact.

We have an exciting opportunity for an early career transport modeller to contribute to high-quality project delivery while continuing to develop technical modelling and data analysis capability alongside experienced professionals in a supportive, collaborative environment.

The role offers the opportunity to be actively involved in the analysis, development, and application of transport models, supporting outcomes that inform transport planning, operations and investment decisions. You will work with industry-standard tools such as Aimsun, SIDRA and Python, with opportunities to develop capability in other packages aligned with your interests and project needs.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake transport modelling and data analysis tasks, including processing and validating input data, building, running and interrogating models (particularly in Aimsun) and assessing performance against relevant guidelines and contributing to technical reports with clear documentation of assumptions, methodologies, calibration/validation outcomes and scenario testing results.
  • Work collaboratively with project team members and stakeholders to support coordinated, timely and high‑quality delivery of transport modelling and analytical inputs across planning and advisory assignments
  • Support the commercial performance of projects through efficient task delivery, accurate use of business systems, and contribution to technical reporting, modelling documentation and proposal preparation on smaller projects
  • Plan and manage personal workloads effectively across multiple tasks, meeting deadlines while progressively building capability in transport modelling tools, data analysis techniques and professional judgement.

About You

You are a motivated transport modeller who enjoys working across transport and infrastructure projects, with a passion for multi-modal transport projects (including mobility-as-a-service, public transport and pedestrians). You will also ideally have an interest in data and analytics.

Suitable applicants will have:

  • Tertiary degree in Transport Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Transport Planning or a related discipline
  • Developing technical capability in transport modelling and data analysis
  • Demonstrated interest or early experience in transport modelling tools, including use of tools such as Aimsun and Python, with an understanding of core modelling concepts (calibration, validation, demand modelling and scenario testing)
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery, including scope, risk and time management
  • Ability to clearly document model assumption, calibration & validation, scenario results and analysis
  • Ability to work effectively within collaborative, multidisciplinary project teams

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
