The Opportunity:

KBR’s Land Systems team is expanding, and we’re looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer ready to take on complex and rewarding defence projects that truly make a difference. In this pivotal role, you’ll go beyond conventional engineering, devising innovative solutions to challenging design requirements and coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape and deliver sophisticated mechanical systems, using your judgment and expertise to plan, schedule, and adapt engineering methods to real-world defence applications. As a technical leader, you’ll provide guidance to designers and less experienced engineers, driving engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of Australia’s land systems programs and help shape the future of defence within the following branches:

  • Armoured Fighter Vehicle Branch
  • Land Vehicle Systems Branch
  • Land Manoeuvre Systems Branch
  • Land Engineering Agency

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all engineering related system review, progress reviews and interface control working groups
  • Participate in working groups related to Materiel System and/or Support System components subject to system analysis, design, development and implementation
  • Review engineering deliverables delivered under an Acquisition and/or Support System Contract
  • Provide advice and assist with the certification of the Materiel and/or Support System in accordance with the applicable Defence technical regulatory framework
  • Oversee the specified requirements set as held in DOORS (as applicable)
  • Advising on Engineering Change Proposals that are raised by the Customer or the Contractor
  • Monitor and advise on the system design, development and/or system deployment, utilisation and support
  • Providing knowledge transfer and mentoring to the Customer personnel
  • Ensure a safe working environment

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or a related discipline
  • Experience with Department of Defence design delivery
  • Highly developed organisational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated abilities to develop positive working relationships through high level communications skills
  • Experience in a Department of Defence capital acquisition project
  • Awareness of systems engineering

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
