The Opportunity:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide engineering expertise across Defence projects and programs, supporting the design, development, certification and sustainment of complex materiel systems.

Working closely with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to system reviews, engineering assessments, technical governance activities and engineering change management processes. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile Defence capability projects while developing your technical and professional leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in engineering reviews, progress reviews, interface control working groups and technical forums
  • Support engineering analysis, design, development and implementation activities across Defence systems
  • Review engineering deliverables produced under acquisition and sustainment contracts
  • Provide engineering advice relating to certification and compliance within Defence technical regulatory frameworks
  • Monitor and manage system requirements and engineering documentation
  • Assess and provide recommendations on Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Monitor system design, development, deployment and in-service support activities
  • Support capability delivery through stakeholder engagement and technical advice
  • Mentor and share knowledge with Defence personnel and project team members
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices within project activities

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or related discipline)
  • Experience supporting Defence engineering, acquisition or sustainment activities
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Australian Citizenship & must have an minimum active Baseline Security Clearance

Desirable

  • Experience working within Defence capital acquisition projects
  • Knowledge of Defence engineering and technical regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership
