As the Marketing Manager - Editorial Content you’ll be an experienced and dynamic senior editor with the responsibility of managing the editorial content program and audience growth for Dan Murphy’s, building our reputation as the go-to drinks destination for young Australians. 

Managing a team of editors and writers, you will lead the editorial vision, strategy and day-to-day operations of Dan’s Daily, ensuring to deliver best-in-class editorial content at pace for the business and our partners. 

As the face of the brand, you live and breathe all things culture and drinks, understand the target market and play a key role in educating the wider business on the value of content and weaving it through more parts of the Dan Murphy’s customer journey. 

You have creative flair combined with strategic, conceptual thinking, a strong aptitude for process management and administrative precision and strong skills in managing multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Lead the editorial vision, strategy, and daily operations for digital content platforms like Dan’s Daily, aligning with content strategy, trade plans, retail media, and SEO to meet audience and business goals. 
  • Acting as the guardian of ‘tone of voice’ ensuring high-quality, authentic content that balances audience resonance with commercial messages. 
  • Support the Head of Brand & Content in expanding Dan’s Daily's reach across online and offline touchpoints, developing business cases for new initiatives. 
  • Grow audience and engagement by optimising amplification plans across channels.
  • Oversee retail media content partnerships, continually improving inventory and workflows. 
  • Represent the editorial brand externally, building networks in food, drinks, and culture. 
  • Partner with the eCom team on SEO strategy to drive organic traffic and convert content to shoppable experiences. 
  • Collaborate with eComm & digital team to enhance Dan’s Daily's onsite experience based on insights.
  • Educate and gain buy-in for content's value across the business. 
  • Manage a small team, including an Editorial Content Lead and freelancers, fostering a customer-first culture. 
  • Role model Dan Murphy’s values. 
  • Manage contributors, partners, and the editorial budget, ensuring commercial purpose. 
  • Support scaling digital content production by exploring new models. 
  • Track, measure, and report content effectiveness using analytics to improve future production.
     

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • 7+ years experience in creating compelling digital content, working for a media publisher and/or a role in brand content marketing.
  • Degree in journalism, media and communications or similar.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including copy-editing and fact-checking.
  • Ability to operate effectively and autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knows how to tell a story using words, images and video, and how to create content that draws an audience and drives engagement.
  • Ability to develop, translate & leverage strategic commercial messages into content.
  • Strong skills in managing multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Highly skilled in writing web-friendly copy using best-practice SEO principles.
  • Fluency in using content management systems, website analytics tools and project management software (e.g. Google Sheets, Airtable, Asana, etc.)
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about drinks (across a broad range of categories) and Gen Z/Millennial culture, with understanding of trends in the ecommerce, retail and food/drink industry.
  • Highly organised and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven workplace. 
  • Creative flair combined with strategic, conceptual thinking and a strong aptitude for process management and administrative precision.
  • Strong network of food and drinks industry relationships.
  • Proven experience in people leadership.
