Business Banking (BB) secures and enhances the financial wellbeing of people, businesses and communities. The Regional and Agribusiness Banking (RAB) provides a comprehensive range of services to over 18,000 relationships located in Regional and Rural Australia.

The RAB Line 1 Distribution Risk team team sits within Business Banking (BB) Distribution Risk, and works to be a trusted partner to RAB in all facets of risk management and represents RAB in risk-related initiatives and changes. The role itself has a specific focus on financial risk management.

Do work that matters

You will be part of the RAB Line 1 Distribution Risk team to ensure RAB meets its key risk framework obligations, whilst also ensuring clear risk processes for our people, better customer outcomes and alignment with community expectations.

You will be proficient in data visualization to communicate key insights information succinctly and effectively to support the RAB Business to manage financial risks including but not limited to Credit Related Risk, Policy and Procedures Adherence, Environment Social and Governance Risk, Change Impact Related risks etc.

Reporting into the Senior Manager Risk and Controls, you will join a team whose focus is to provide appropriate risk support to enable RAB to grow safely and within the expectations of customers, regulators, and the broader community.

On any given day you will

  • Provide pragmatic risk advice to various stakeholders, ensuring a safe, sound and efficient operational environment

  • Partner with the RAB business to provide guidance on complex incidents, areas of weakness, and appropriate management on a wide variety of risks

  • Contribute to a proactive risk and control culture and collaborate with the business

  • Use your subject matter expertise in the financial risk area to identify areas of opportunity or pain points for RAB, and work with stakeholders to influence or implement uplifts

  • Manage root cause analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements whilst maintaining quality documentation throughout

  • Proactively upskill yourself on new and emerging risks, particularly relating to changes to risk and compliance frameworks and Group policies

  • Provide risk and compliance reporting to support various committees and forums, such as the RAB Financial Risk Committee (FRC) and Watch List (WL).

  • Provide support for, and proactively suggest improvements in risk data, reporting, control, and risk monitoring as identified from time to time.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • An understanding of the Business Banking Segments

  • Prior commercial lending experience (knowledge of CCL and commercial lending end to end processes is an advantage)

  • Knowledge of Operational and Compliance Risk Frameworks is advantageous

  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders to drive positive outcomes

  • High quality written and verbal communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data capabilities

  • Ability to work in an environment with a large number of stakeholders and competing priorities

  • A willingness to continuously and proactively develop all of the above.
