About our Engineering Team
We rely on our Jetstar Engineering Team to deliver our superior safety standards, up to the second. They’re the trouble-shooters, glitch-fixers and tech-experts who make sure we take to the sky safely. Solving problems. Trying new things. Getting hands-on. Fixing and double checking. It’s all part of the day job as a Jetstar Engineer. You’ll find our Engineers located right across the Jetstar Australia and New Zealand network.

We are on the hunt for an experienced aviation professional to takeoff in this newly created opportunity as Manager Engineering Operations. In this role, your primary function will be to manage engineering operations in the day-of-ops environment to support the successful delivery of Jetstar’s flying schedule.
Reporting to our Senior Manager Engineering Operations, you will primarily be responsible for:
- Manage Engineering operations in the day-of-ops environment with a key focus on schedule integrity, disruption management
- Acting as the key Engineering management representative providing dynamic leadership within the MOC and the Jetstar Operations Control Centre (JOCC).
- Management of planned and unplanned maintenance that balances the commercial, customer and operational impacts associated with disruption
- Acting as the operational Engineering point of contact and as an escalation point for activities within Engineering
- Providing operational leadership and management to those within the Maintenance Operations Centre (MOC).
- Managing a team responsible for ensuring effective communication flow between those within and external to Engineering
We are on the hunt for the following experience:
- Proven experience in an aviation operations or engineering environment
- Passion and experience in managing, coaching and mentoring a team of direct reports
- Aviation industry experience essential
- A desire for continuous improvement and are passionate about aviation
- Somebody who can demonstrate a thick skin in dealing with difficult situations whilst thriving in a fast-paced, constantly changing, operational environment
- Strength in problem solving and decision making, including the ability to consider the operation, customer, cost, people and engineering impacts when proposing solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid internal and external stakeholder management skills
