Job Description

You will support the Management Assurance team in delivering leading controls assurance across Rest’s critical operational controls, covering both design and operating effectiveness. You’ll provide specialist advice and training to stakeholders to strengthen Rest’s control processes, uplift control maturity, and guide teams through Control Self‑Assessments (CSAs). You will also offer subject matter expertise on Line 1 risk practices, assurance activities, controls, business processes and change initiatives, helping the business embed strong and consistent risk management practices.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Controls Assurance practices and associated interactions with the business to:

  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to achieve positive outcomes with the uplift of controls management across the organisation.
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation and influencing positive outcomes to support the organisation to achieve enhanced process management  and risk practices across the organisation. 
  • Support the Continuous Improvement of Rest’s Risk Management and Control Practices across Critical Operations.
  • Develop and execute Control Assurance Plans across the Critical Operations Controls.
  • Undertake Controls Assurance (Design and Operating Effectiveness testing) on Critical Operations controls.
  • Coaching and support to Analyst.
  • Provide support to Stakeholders for their Control Self-Assessments (CSA’s)
  • Provide Control Testing and Assurance Education, Advice and Training to First Line Risk Teams and the broader Rest businesses.
  • Facilitation of Control Workshops.
  • Maintain the quality of Controls data within the IRM Risk Management system.
  • Complete Risk Reporting for various Risk Committees. 
  • Support the Rest Businesses in their End of Year CPS 230 Compliance Attestations.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, law, economics, engineering, business studies or equivalent (desirable).
  • Risk management training and risk facilitation credentials from a recognised professional body such as the RMIA or GRC (desirable).

Required experience, understanding or credentials including:

  • Experience at a Manager Level in a Risk/Controls/Audit/Assurance Role within the Financial Services Industry.
  • Must be a demonstrated leader with experience making decisions, setting priorities and providing direction to staff and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing leading teams, through an inspiring and collaborative approach in a high change environment.
  • Thorough understanding of, and experience in Risk Management Practices, Tools and Techniques (Risk Profiling, Risk Appetite, Key Risk Indicators, Risk Reporting). 
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in Controls & Assurance Frameworks, and Controls Testing & Assurance.
  • Good knowledge of CPS 230 (APRA Operational Resilience), SPS 220 (APRA Risk Management).
