We are seeking a Team Leader and Senior COBOL EGL Developer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting complex COBOL and EGL (Enterprise Generation Language) applications. This role involves collaborating with business analysts, project managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities: Team Leader of 5 resources, managing workload and running weekly meetings.

Security Clearance: NV1 required

Software Development and Maintenance:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and services.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL and EGL applications.
  • Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code according to specifications.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner.

Project Management and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with business analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings as part of the Agile development process.

System Integration and Optimization:

  • Integrate new software with existing systems and platforms.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure scalability.
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing processes and systems.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Conduct training sessions to improve the technical skills of the team.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that software solutions are thoroughly tested and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to define and implement test strategies and plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in COBOL development.
  • 5+ years of experience with EGL (Enterprise Generation Language).
  • Strong understanding of mainframe environments and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with software development methodologies, particularly Agile/Scrum.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Agile/Scrum – desirable.
