Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Legal Counsel. This role reports to the Managing Counsel – Consumer Protection and Marketing.
A bit about your role
As Legal Counsel, you will provide proactive, commercially focused legal support across a broad range of matters, including consumer protection, marketing compliance, and contractual terms of supply with retail service providers. You will be a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, helping to shape marketing and communications that are both legally sound and aligned with nbn’s brand and customer promise.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing marketing materials across digital, broadcast, and print channels; advising on compliance with the Australian Consumer Law and the Spam Act; and supporting the management of nbn’s trademark portfolio. You will also contribute to the legal design of wholesale products and contractual arrangements with retail service providers, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and industry standards.
A bit about you
The successful candidate will hold a current legal practising certificate and have 4-6 years of post-qualification experience, either in a law firm or in-house (including experience gained on secondment). Background in Telco, Technology, or consulting for regulated entities is a plus.
You are collaborative and pragmatic, with a strong understanding of consumer and competition law and a genuine interest in the legal frameworks that shape the Telco industry. Your inclusive mindset and attention to detail will help foster a culture of integrity and purpose across nbn, ensuring legal considerations are embedded into everyday decision-making.
