We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Legal Counsel to join our Customer and Supply Legal team.
A bit about your role
As Legal Counsel for Customer and Supply, you will partner with the business to navigate and shape nbn’s environment to enable enterprise outcomes. You will be providing expert legal and regulatory solutions to support nbn’s mission to Lift the Digital Capability of Australia. You will work with key stakeholders across various teams (including Customer, Customer Contracting, Regulatory Strategy and New Developments) offering proactive legal support to the marketing team on nbn’s advertising, branding, and external communications. Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive legal reviews of marketing communications to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Negotiating contracts with external suppliers
- Providing practical legal advice that enables commercial outcomes with a particular focus on the Australian Consumer Law, privacy and data protection
- Monitoring changes in legislation and regulatory requirements affecting marketing and consumer law and advising the business on necessary adjustments.
- Providing advice on intellectual property (IP) matters such as conducting trade mark clearance searches and advising on potential defensive IP disputes.
A bit about you
You are legally qualified, hold a current practicing certificate, and have relevant post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house. You have experience in the telecommunications or technology industries, or advising regulated entities, is essential. You should have strong private practice experience or in-house experience (including if gained on secondment), excellent relationship-building and problem-solving skills, strong communication and influencing abilities, and an active team player.
