The Lead Vulnerability Assessor provides expert leadership in identifying, analysing and prioritising security vulnerabilities across complex ICT environments. The role leads advanced vulnerability assessments and investigations, provides authoritative advice on risk mitigation, and contributes to the design and assurance of secure systems through technical assessment, penetration testing and security control evaluation.

This is a 12 month contract role, NV2 highly regarded.


Requirements

What you'll do:

  • Lead and conduct complex vulnerability assessments and security investigations across a broad range of systems, platforms and devices.
  • Perform or oversee penetration testing activities and analyse findings to identify security weaknesses and control gaps.
  • Assess and articulate complex threat and vulnerability profiles, including potential impacts on systems, data and operations.
  • Lead analytical processes to identify risks and recommend remediation strategies to improve the integrity and resilience of ICT environments.
  • Provide authoritative technical advice on security architecture, system design and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of security controls and review systems for actual or potential vulnerabilities.
  • Review system designs and technical solutions to assess security risks, technology suitability and integration impacts.
  • Develop, maintain and improve assessment methodologies, procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Produce high-quality technical and executive-level reporting on vulnerability findings, risk impacts and mitigation recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development, testing and maintenance of scripts or tools to support security assessment activities.

What you'l bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex vulnerability assessments, threat assessments or security investigations.
  • Proven experience undertaking penetration testing and analysing the effectiveness of security controls and defensive measures.
  • Strong understanding of secure system design principles and the ability to assess security impacts across software and infrastructure architectures.
  • Experience conducting impact and risk analysis on system designs to ensure alignment with security standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, high-quality technical and executive reporting on vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, threat landscapes and vulnerability management practices.
  • Experience reviewing and assessing others’ system designs to ensure appropriate technology selection and risk management.
  • Ability to provide authoritative technical guidance to stakeholders and influence security outcomes.
  • Experience developing or modifying scripts, tools or automation to support vulnerability assessment activities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
