Your future team
We are looking for a Principal Lead Designer to focus on Design Strategy in the Teamwork Platform Design team. In this role, you will report into the Head of Design, Teamwork Platform and join an organization consisting of multiple teams across Australia, North America, and India. As a high-level individual contributor, you'll lead strategic platform design work aimed at unifying and communicating the Teamwork Platform value both internally and externally. You will focus on understanding - at any given point - where are we now, where do we want to be, and how will we get there. You will partner with other Teamwork Platform designers and cross functional partners, and multiple design teams across the company, to help align and bring clarity for complex stakeholders spanning the gamut from ICs on the ground to the leaders in the C suite.
What you'll do

  • Partner with Head of Design and cross functional executives to build energy and coalitions at scale for strategic imperatives
  • Advocate the importance of Teamwork Platform design strategy across the business
  • Establish a co-design program with customers and partners
  • Work with product managers, engineering and other partners to help define the wider Teamwork Platform strategy
  • Inspire a high-performing team of design managers and their reports
  • Improve craft quality for all design specializations in your team
  • Bring the perspective and needs of Teamwork Platform design to larger design strategic projects
  • Contribute to programs outside of Teamwork Platform design which improve overall design capability

Your background

  • 10+ years of strategic product design experience, designing complex or enterprise-level software
  • Demonstrable experience in creating clarity in high ambiguity through impactful design solutions to challenging problems
  • Passion for story-telling, the ability to bring design direction to life with compelling narrative
  • Experience balancing customer needs with business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility
  • Facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills: you can demonstrate the ability to integrate the work of multiple teams, solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions that lead company wide outcomes
  • Experience in helping large organization navigate change
  • Experience measuring success with qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Experience improving process and methodology to increase product value, team velocity and accelerate adoption of new capabilities

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
