We are seeking a talented individual to join our Change and Transformation team at Mercer. This role will be based in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Junior Project Manager

The Junior Project Manager / Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for providing essential project management support in the execution of risk transformation initiatives within Mercer Super.

The Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator role is crucial to the efficient delivery of strategic programs, working in a large Risk Transformation HUB (the Program Management Office). The HUB consists of specialists who support all aspects of program and project delivery, including best practice standards and guidance, reporting and insights, monitoring and control, resource management, risk and issue management, and quality assurance.

This is not project manager role but would suit an experience project co-ordinator who has managed some small projects, is comfortable with project management methodologies and processes; and can work collaboratively with the business initiative leads to support them to ensure their reporting, Change, Risk, Assumptions, Actions, Issues and Dependencies (CRAAID) and planning updates are completed in line with the HUB reporting cadence. A preferred candidate would demonstrate exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract

We will count on you to:

  • Work with business Initiative Leads to report on and maintain key data for their initiatives within the Program HUB, including supporting business Initiatives Lead reporting on schedules, deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, assumptions, and outputs.
  • Ensure business Initiative Lead reporting is captured, on time, is accurate, clearly articulates path to green, and focuses on the areas aligned to the overall program reporting and governance strategy.
  • Manage inputs and outputs to ensure it remains current and accurate
  • Work with the HUB and Program Management Office (PMO) Manager to ensure cadence for reporting inputs and outputs are met.
  • Critically review status of projects, consolidate data for reporting purposes and provide insights.
  • Provide support to Initiative Leads, Assurance and HUB on the capturing of milestone completion documentation.
  • Provide HUB support to Program, and business Initiative Leads in the management and oversight of specific projects as required

What you need to have:

  • Project Management Certifications e.g. PMBOK (desirable)
  • Extensive Program Management Office (PMO) and Reporting experience
  • Strong understanding of project management and program management methodologies
  • Strong business focused stakeholder engagement as part of a wider project/program team.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders, including managers and executives, Subject Matter Experts and consultants
  • Practical knowledge of project delivery lifecycles, methodologies, and governance practices, as well as experience with Project Portfolio Management tools
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to tailor messages for different audiences and build constructive relationships at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • High proficiency in SharePoint,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Planner (desirable)
  • Analytical and problem solving
