About the role  

We’re seeking an ITS Operations Engineer to help change how we travel.  

You’ll join a world leading Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) team developing the brightest ideas and most inspired engineering into safer, more efficient, and more sustainable Transport

Technology solutions.  

As our ITS Operations Engineer you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

  

Day-to-day, you will:  
  

  • Act as an escalation point, and provide 24/7 1st and 2nd level support to our Traffic Control and Operations Centres  
  • You’ll maintain applications, client operation systems, desktop equipment, server equipment, specialised systems and networked systems 
  • You’ll ensure our ITS Systems are performing to their availability and reliability targets – you’ll monitor them closely and conduct maintenance and system upgrades to keep them operating at their best. 
  • You’ll monitor and maintain all sorts of specialised equipment including PABXs and Trunked radio, data network equipment, CCTV equipment, Traffic Flow Systems, PLCs and Building Security System 
  • Provide guidance and direction to sub-contractors and other teams, to resolve and escalate system faults, conduct maintenance and restoration works.
  • Conduct monitoring and maintenance of the ITS systems to deliver the target system availability by following documented procedures and work instructions

  
  

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:  
  

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels 
  • You’ve worked in a similar role maintaining critical systems in electrical, electronic or communication system support. 
  • You’ve completed a TAFE or equivalent trade qualifications in Electrical / Electronic / Computer Systems with proven experience in a comparable industry or Engineering Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Computer Systems Engineering 
  • You’ll be organised, efficient and decisive in in prioritising the tasks that count, pressure doesn’t faze you 
  • Proven ability to work effectively in rostered environments, adapting to varying schedules and operational demands.
  • Hands-on experience in field operations, including system support and troubleshooting across diverse infrastructure and environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-driven with a commitment to seeing tasks through to completion
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • You have a license to drive – you love everything about our roads after all
