Job Title: Solution Architect – Aerospace, Defence & Manufacturing 

Location: Boeing Australia (Brisbane or Melbourne with hybrid work options) 

Position Summary: 

Boeing Australia is seeking a hands-on Solution Architect with 5-7 years’ experience to design and deliver integrated, scalable, and secure IT solutions across corporate and operational systems.

This role spans Payroll, HR, ERP, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing Systems, supporting Boeing’s aerospace and defence services environment.

You will apply Boeing’s Application Development & Sustainment methodology and enterprise architecture principles to drive digital transformation, system integration, platform development, and custom software solutions that align with business goals and compliance requirements. 

Due to the International nature of the role and business as a whole, there may be the requirement to support after hours meetings and calls, however flexibility is encouraged. Some domestic travel may be required. 

About the Role:

  • Design fit-for-purpose, technically sound solution architectures that optimise business value and comply with Boeing’s architecture standards and governance. 

  • Develop current and future-state technical architecture documents to support project planning and delivery phases 

  • Lead feasibility studys, business cases, and support solution implementation, testing, and transition to operations. 

  • Collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document solution requirements, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and project objectives. 

  • Work with technical teams including developers to support technical proof-of-concept work to prove out potential solutions and new architecture patterns. 

  • Apply deep ERP knowledge (Finance, HR, Supply /chain) and expertise in Engineering and Quality Systems to guide solution design and integration with business processes and data models. 

  • Provide strategic guidance and subject matter expertise across diverse platforms and enterprise technologies, including cloud environments such as Azure/M365 and AWS. 

  • Support the development of long-term product and system roadmaps by identifying future capability needs and technology opportunities. 

  • Participate in architecture compliance reviews and manage waivers in accordance with governance mandates. 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of architecture standards, practices, and forums within Boeing’s Global IT community. 

  • Mentor development teams on architecture best practices and ensure solutions meet security, scalability, and performance requirements. 

Basic Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) 

  • 5-7 years’ experience as a Solution Architect or similar role, preferably in aerospace, defence, manufacturing, or other regulated industries. 

  • Proven track record in planning, designing, developing, and implementing complex IT solutions involving system integration, platform development, and custom software. 

  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure/M365/AWS), ERP systems (e.g., Oracle eBusiness / SAP), and service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow)  

  • Experience with Enterprise Cloud environments, governance frameworks and tooling 

  • Understanding of Cloud Economics and FinOps concepts 

  • Solid understanding of cyber and information security principles and their application in IT environments. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative, practical solutions. 

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively across business and technical teams. 

  • Familiarity with Boeing’s AD&S methodology or equivalent software development and sustaining frameworks. 

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) 

  • Relevant architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect)  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field 

  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments is advantageous.
