At Thales, we know technology has the ability to make our world more secure, sustainable, and inclusive – and that it’s all driven by human intelligence.

Because it takes human intelligence to build and power the systems and solutions that people depend on every day. So we stay curious and make space for diverse points of view. We share what we know and we challenge what’s possible.

From manufacturing and engineering to cybersecurity and space, we’re driving progress in some of the world’s most important industries – and working together to build a future we can all trust.

Our Air Mobility Solutions team creates, develops and deploys air management systems that are critical for safe aircraft movement. With products covering 40% of the world’s airspace, we enable the safe take-off and landing of 2 in 3 aircrafts globally. We offer the opportunity to work on complex systems that push what’s possible in air traffic management – including drone technology – with room to grow in both technical and team-leading roles.

Join our team as an ICT Infrastructure Tech Lead, where you will support the Head of Discipline in overseeing key activities to ensure we deliver exceptional value to our clients.

In this role, you will take the technical lead, inspiring and driving the enhancement of best practices within the infrastructure discipline, while contributing to innovative solutions that advance our Digital Transformation strategy.

  • Take responsibility for the definition and updates of the engineering discipline cost model

  • Provide technical oversight to other teams within projects and bids, ensuring that the designed solution is implemented according to the design and aligns with project schedules, costs, and quality standards

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:

  • Degree in Engineering, IT, Telecommunication, Electronics or a related discipline; postgraduate studies in Systems Engineering are a plus

  • Proven in experience in complex and mission-critical ICT infrastructure projects (networking, computing, and peripherals)

  • Broad experience in infrastructure design, from computing platform (Operating System, hardening, databases), network, storage (NAS, SAN), to Data Centre (racks, cabling, cooling), and deployment processes

  • Solid experience of infrastructure automation, including Infrastructure as a Service and Containers as a Service (e.g. OpenShift on-prem or Cloud), Infrastructure as Code (Ansible), and DevOps processes (CI/CD pipelines)

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
